Steven Weinberg Colloquium 17 September

12 Sep 2020

ICTP-EAIFR is pleased to announce a colloquium by Nobel Laureate Steven Weinberg. Titled "Perspectives in Quantum Field Theory", the talk will summarize the state of the art of the field and give an outlook on its most promising future developments.

Steven Weinberg is a theoretical physicist who holds the Josey Regental Chair in Science at the University of Texas at Austin. Together with Abdus Salam and Sheldon Glashow he was awarded the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics for contributions to the theory of the unified weak and electromagnetic interaction between elementary particles, including, inter alia, the prediction of the weak neutral current. He is the recipient of a Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics. Weinberg’s research has extended over many areas of theoretical physics, especially in the theory of elementary particles and in cosmology.

The colloquium will take place online; all are invited to attend by registering in advance here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_qjjIYjFsQf-1yxwlWLySFg

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
