RESEARCH INTERESTS

The analysis of seismological observations is paramount to the study of the Earth's interior structure as it offers the best information about the dynamic processes within the Earth. My research focus is on understanding the structure and active deformation in the Central Mediterranean region. Here, the deformation is complex and cannot be easily related to the motion of the African and European plates. The geodynamic complexity of the Central Mediterranean makes the kinematics of the present-day deformation and its relations with intraplate earthquakes less well understood. My goal is to provide new insights about the lithospheric velocity structure through high-resolution seismic tomography studies that shed light about the tectonics and deformation in the Central Mediterranean region.

BIOGRAPHY

I received my PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Trieste, Italy in 2020. Since then, I have been working at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics until October 2024. From January 2025, I started my role here at ICTP-EAIFR as a Senior Lecturer.
