Research Support

“Shut up and calculate!” – a phrase famously attributed to N. David Mermin – captures the pragmatic post-war spirit that propelled physics forward through focused problem-solving and interdisciplinary collaboration. At ICTP-EAIFR, this spirit lives on through our Research Support Unit. It operates in close synergy with our teaching, research, and innovation activities—ready to respond, assist, and enable high research throughput.
We are dedicated to addressing the technological needs of domain-specific scientific communities to enhance both research and teaching.
Through active involvement in scientific computing and information technology, we provide tailored solutions that support high-performance approaches to problem-solving. Our efforts are driven by both internal initiatives and external collaborations.
Our key roles include:
- Education and Training
- Scientific Collaborations
- Development and Optimization of Algorithms
- Acquisition and Management of Supercomputing Resources
- In-house Cluster Deployment and Maintenance
- High-Performance Computing (HPC) User Support
- Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM)
- Cybersecurity Asset Management (CSAM)
